In the article, Rob is not talking about the various means of building relationships and getting involved in our community. He is discussing turning natural conversations towards Christ in existing relationships. You have some good ideas for networking though, Mike.

That is interesting, but at the same time, we can utilize some of those areas to reach into with a gospel intentionality. Key examples would be pop culture/art, politics, and community, etc.

It is not merely just walking around the burbs looking for someone to chat it up with, but we should also be making an attempt to reach into those areas looking to share the gospel and develop those key relationships - even if it might be a burden to us.

This might be as simple as going to a seniors home once a week for an hour or two to whip and old man in cribbage and say, "You know who else is mighty and victorious? Jesus."

Why can't we lead as an example in protecting the environment by taking the bus (which usually has people on it), taking the initiative to recycle (that includes tearing the label off the can and placing it into the glossy paper box).

Remember, we don't want to dazzle them with details or baffle them with bull manure. We want to gospel them without ramming their head into a toilet screaming, "Repent ye therefore and be converted!".

But I will admit that even I am far from reaching this model... I just need to remember that if something is terribly inconvenient for me, it was terribly inconvenient that Jesus had to die for me on the cross.
