Mmmmm…

Monday, Sept. 3, 2007

Good morning, saints,

I am beginning what I hope will become a tradition that is beneficial to us all, as we seek to glorify our hero – the Lord Jesus Christ. I will not only post this on the discipleship blog, but I will also try to send out a copy for those of you who cannot find our blog! J For the most part, this Mmmmm… letter will likely go out Monday afternoons (sent out from the school in Leask once I’m finished my classes). However, Mamm just didn’t seem as good of a title – so I’ll stick to Mmmmm… even when it doesn’t get sent out in the morning.

Our move is nearly complete. We are so very thankful for the help we received. Now we have the unpacking; the great search for space to put it; the repacking for yet another trip to the storage unit in Martensville, or Garry and Susan’s storage unit spare bedroom (J); and assembling our living space to “home.” God is so good as He blesses us with Himself. We are continually in His presence in an eternal and binding relationship no matter where are.

Reflection –

I got the questions below from a blog I like to frequent called “God is Better than All.” I thought they were great - causing me to reflect on our church and ministry. If you could take time this week to answer #3 and send me a copy it would be of great help to me. This is where we are going in our church study – even as we move through Genesis now, preparing the ground for pouring the concrete (so to speak). Your answers would go a long way to helping me prepare and teach our mission. Here are the questions:

· Does your church or ministry have a clear biblical understanding of Jesus? If not, what else does your church family need to learn?

· What can you do to support the leaders in your church?

· Articulate in one sentence the mission Jesus has called your church to. Would the other people in your church give the same answer, or are there contradictory missions and confusion in your church? What can be done to bring people who are not on mission in line with the mission?

· What ministry are you currently doing to help serve Jesus’ mission in your culture through your church? What are you learning as you serve?

Making Disciples –

I am looking to gather those (male and female, young and old … and in between) interested in leading Bible studies (small group or one on one – in person or on skype) and/or discipling individuals. There are a number of people who desire to be discipled. I cannot possibly connect with them all on a weekly basis. However, I can connect with a group of “ministers” (aka : “servants”) to train them for the work of the ministry. Perhaps we can book the Sutherland Hall for a Sunday once or twice a month around 5:00 or 6:00 or 7:00 p.m. (or any other day or time that works consistently into schedules); order chicken wings; and have a time of sticky fingers and questions, encouragement, re-focusing, training etc. for discipling others in the faith and leading seekers to the One who is the Way.

Please let me know if you are interested. The only qualification you need is the Spirit of God. He will teach you to humbly love people for their good and build real and intimate relationships with them that lead to and exalt Jesus our Lord.

The Week Ahead –

As you begin your week, may you reflect upon many of the lessons that we have learned through observing the life of Joseph (and our other great cloud of witnesses to the life of faith in Jesus). All lead us to the Author and Finisher of our faith – for our ultimate humbling, hope, satisfaction, and mission. May you serve for the glory of our King and the blessing of those around you this week.

There is a house group gathering at Bruce and Beth White’s this Thursday at 7:00 p.m. for anyone able to make it.

Prayer –

In addition to the items above, please keep Allison in your prayers (and maybe mom and dad, too!) as she begins the next stage of her life in Christ at Briercrest.

Speaking of Briercrest, Sammy has also been seen around there – near the basketball court. Sammy and I are planning regular contact via skype this year. Pray that it will be profitable for both of us.

For Kurt and Kendall – the baby is getting ever closer to meeting us all. Please pray for him or her! (That could be taken a couple of different ways! J )

Larry and Jan are still needing a buyer(s) for their pigs.

Pray for the knowledge and exaltation of Jesus as we continue to serve and love others in our social circles with a desire that they come to know the God who gives them every beat of their heart in truth.

Jesus, build your church in Saskatoon for the glory of our heavenly Father.

Much love in the Savior,

Murray
